Looking for Parent Volunteers for our Parent-Based College and Career Talk Series!

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

We are excited to announce a College and Career Talk Series at our school that would take place throughout this year. We are looking for parent/guardian (or anyone recommended by a parent) speakers to discuss their personal journey through their higher education and vocational ventures with our students. We are confident the experiences and beliefs of LISA parents are necessary to the development of the expanding young minds here. If you are (or know of anyone) willing to take part in this talk series, please sign-up at College and Career Talk Sign-up.

Talks will be scheduled throughout the academic year and will be presented to members of the senior class through zoom. We will record the sessions to share with other grade levels 8-11 that can not be at the sessions live due to scheduling. Talks can be on Monday and Thursday from 2:00-3:15 pm or Wednesday from 12:15-1:30 pm. You do not have to use it all of the time, but you have it available if you need it. If all of your choices of dates are not available, we will contact you to see if you are available on another day.

Speakers may use the following questions as a guideline to their speech, but are encouraged to tailor their words that feel:
1. When you were a high school student, what career did you wish to pursue? Is it the career you are in now?
2. Where did you attend college and what did you major in? What path did you take in selecting a college to attend?
3. How was the process of finding employment after college?
4. Where do you currently work and what does that profession entail?
5. What is crucial advice you wish to give high school students about their academic endeavors and life in general?
